State approvals

From State to State

Continuing education requirements for physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) are regulated at the state level, and requirements vary across the United States. Most states require between 10–40 hours of continuing education every 1–2 years for license renewal, often including specific topics such as ethics or jurisprudence.

Courses offered through SPRINTCEUS are designed to meet the general standards accepted by many state licensing boards, including alignment with widely recognized providers such as the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). CEUs approved by APTA or state APTA chapters are accepted by most state boards, depending on individual state regulations.

Because licensure is regulated individually by each state, final approval of CEUs is determined by your specific state board. Some states also have additional requirements, such as limits on online hours, mandatory subject areas (e.g., ethics or medical errors), or specific approved provider lists.

*We recommend that all users verify CEU acceptance with their state licensing board prior to purchase to ensure compliance with local requirements.
